About the Role
This can be a part-time of full-time position (50%-100%).
This role requires an advanced level of fluency in German and English.
- Process monthly payroll accurately and on time.
- Improve and optimize payroll operations.
- Review and reconcile payroll prior to submission and validate confirmed reports.
- Collaborate with external partners and the Finance team to ensure proper completion of the payroll process and data reporting to relevant entities.
- Handle payroll inquiries from employees and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Stay up to date and ensure compliance with payroll-related laws and regulations.
- Advise and support on payroll, social security and tax-related issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and documentation.
- Ensure proper management of data and employee requests in our HRIS (Personio).
- Prepare and manage employment contracts, amendments, certificates and related documents in an accurate and timely manner.
- Stay up to date and ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations, creating or updating policies and documentation as needed.
- Provide timely and accurate information to employee inquiries on operational topics (e.g. vacation and sick leaves).
- Manage partnerships with external providers, including negotiation of contract terms and renewals and verification of invoices.
- Participate in the planning and execution of HR projects and organizational change initiatives.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing and HR generalist roles.
- Solid understanding of German tax and social security law.
- Familiarity with German labor law.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets (intermediate level).
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Very good proficiency in German and English (at least C1).
Keep in mind that none of these points are requirements, though:
- Solid understanding of payroll accounting.
- Experience with Personio and DATEV.
- Experience in a start-up / scale-up environment.
