Video & Social Media Content Creator (f/m/x)

About the Role

MISSION

Make CODE University Europe's most-watched university on social media. Lead the production of viral short-form and long-form video content that authentically tells the stories of CODE's campus — students, founders, achievements, and events — and ensure that every piece performs both organically across social platforms and as paid acquisition creative for student recruitment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently identify the stories worth telling at CODE — student projects, founder demos, campus events, achievements — and translate them into shareable video content. Operate as an embedded storyteller on campus, determining what merits coverage rather than working from external content briefs.

  • Concept, shoot, edit, and publish viral short-form video content (TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts) in both German and English on a consistent weekly publishing rhythm. Maintain a content pipeline — idea backlog, batched shoot days, and edit-and-ship loop — to ensure sustained output and trend-cycle responsiveness, measured on consistent output and platform metrics rather than individual hero pieces.

  • Lead end-to-end video production, frequently appearing on camera as one of the recurring voices of the brand. When not on camera personally, cast appropriate community members — students, founders, alumni — by building active relationships across the campus and external network.

  • Monitor performance metrics across platforms, including retention curves, hook rate, engagement, and conversion to applications. Use these insights to refine concepts and formats continuously: discontinue underperforming approaches and double down on what works.

  • Track platform trends, creator culture, and emerging AI tooling continuously, and bring new ideas to the team on a weekly basis.

  • Build CODE University's YouTube presence as a secondary, long-form track once the short-form publishing rhythm is established. Develop original long-form formats — founder portraits, student stories, behind-the-scenes campus content — at a lower volume cadence than short-form output.

  • Edit raw footage produced by external parties — event filmers, ad-shoot crews, team-recorded clips — into engaging, on-brand video content suitable for organic and paid distribution.

  • Use generative AI tools (scripting, voice, video, and image generation) in daily working practice as a productivity multiplier.

  • Produce the CODE Podcast: Coordinate with one of our professors to source guests (students, industry experts, and contacts from the Codex network), manage the production, professionally edit the audio, and publish content on typical podcast platforms.

  • Coordinate closely with the Content Marketing Manager on cross-channel campaigns while owning the distinct video storytelling and production lane. Feed posts, stories, LinkedIn organic content, blog writing, community management, brochures, and print materials remain with the Content Marketing Manager.

REQUIREMENTS

Hard Skills

  • Considerable experience producing video content for social media, in agency, in-house, or own-channel settings, with a verifiable portfolio of published work — including at least one piece with demonstrable viral performance.

  • Mastery of at least one professional video editing tool (Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or CapCut Pro), with real fluency rather than surface familiarity, and a preference for speed over post-production polish.

  • Active daily use of generative AI tools (scripting, voice, video, and image generation) as a productivity multiplier, with concrete examples available.

  • Performance-aware mindset, including the ability to read retention curves, hook rate, and engagement metrics and let data shape next-concept decisions.

  • Fluency in internet culture — including Gen Z (and at most late-Millennial) trends, memes, sounds, and platform-specific language — and the ability to translate that fluency into surprising, shareable content.

  • Native German language proficiency paired with strong English; bilingual fluency is non-negotiable.

Soft Skills

  • Strong story instinct: the ability to walk into a campus event or project context and immediately identify multiple narrative angles, selecting the strongest without external direction.

  • Confidence and willingness to appear on camera as a recurring on-screen voice of the brand.

  • High-volume shipping mindset, with demonstrable experience producing multiple pieces of content per week rather than per month, and a self-managing working style that takes ownership of output and KPIs.

  • Highly self-organized and conscientious, with a track record of building repeatable systems and structured workflows rather than operating reactively. Commitments are consistently met, follow-through is reliable, and nothing falls through the cracks.

  • Genuine identification with CODE's student profile — the sense that "this could be (or could have been) the university I would want to study at."

Bonus (but not required)

  • Previous experience producing direct-response or performance ad creatives for Meta or TikTok, and an existing personal social channel with demonstrable engagement.
