In close collaboration with the Admissions Manager, the Admissions Coordinator (f/m/x) guides applicants through the admissions process from first contact to receiving their study contract. They support recruitment activities, serve as the first point of contact for all applicants, evaluate applications and organize Admission Days.

To give you the best possible understanding of the role, here are some activities which you will be responsible for:

  • Communicating with (potential) applicants via email and phone in English and German to ensure their understanding of the CODE admissions process as well as formal requirements.

  • Scoring written applications and digital challenge projects, and conducting informational video calls with applicants to select and invite suitable applicants to the final step of the admissions process – the Admission Days – according to our admissions criteria.

  • Organizing and moderating remote and on-site Admission Days, which are the fourth and final step an applicant has to pass before being admitted to CODE. During the admissions season, these two-day events take place on a monthly to biweekly basis and applicants participate in group tasks, info sessions, and personal interviews while being assessed by observers from the CODE community. The organization includes the technical setup, group tasks, and interview schedule as well as the recruitment and training of observers from within the CODE community (faculty, staff, and students) so that they feel empowered to make an informed final decision about the pool of applicants who are offered a contract.

  • Supporting the inclusive evaluation procedures of applicants' eligibility for studying in Germany, ensuring an equitable and fair assessment of their qualifications.

  • Evaluating the entirety of the admissions process with surveys, retro sessions, and interviews to support efficiently redesigning its elements on a yearly basis.

  • Supporting student recruitment efforts of the marketing team by reporting application numbers as well as supporting the planning and execution of recruitment events to ensure a steady funnel of applicants.

That means we’re looking for you to bring the following skill sets:

  • You have previous experience with a selection process, such as higher education admissions or in an HR capacity, so you feel confident in providing a fair yet thorough assessment process at CODE.

  • You have a high customer service attitude as well as intercultural and interpersonal competency so you can guide our diverse pool of applicants through the admissions process in a fair and encouraging manner.

  • You have a high level of ICT skills and attention to detail so you can communicate with colleagues and applicants through various channels.

  • You are proactive and have creative problem solving abilities in order to thrive in a startup environment.

  • You possess self-organization and time management skills and you look forward to working in a diverse team and a flexible environment without rigid structures.

  • You have a high proficiency in English (C1) so you can easily communicate with our international community.

  • You have a medium proficiency in German (B2) to be able to familiarize yourself with formal university regulations set by the Ministry of Education.

For every position at CODE we also need you to meet the following requirements:

  • Having a German bank account so we can pay you.

  • The right to work and primary residence in Germany so that we are allowed to employ you.

If, beyond this, you bring along any of the following, it would give our team an edge. Keep in mind that none of these points are requirements, though:

  • A bachelor degree or a similar qualification to be able to understand the spirit of working in higher education.

  • Work experience in education, customer service and/or sales to have a jump start in this position.

  • You have a talent for numbers, reports and data maintenance to ensure clean records of all admission activities.

Depending on how much experience you bring along, this role would be suitable for a Junior starting out their career. As such, we expect the salary to be 3,000€ (gross) per month for a full-time position. The position is based in Berlin. Working hours at CODE are flexible and remote work is generally possible, however, the successful candidate will be expected to be on site in Berlin for all Admission Days and internal team events.
