Foundations Program Assistant (f/m/x)

Working Student, Part-time · Berlin

About the Role

The Foundations program helps CODE students learn web development and programming basics in a very guided way. Your role as a Foundations Program Assistant will be to help Foundations students on their learning journey through office hours and support their projects.

As a Foundations Program  Assistant (f/m/x), we’re ideally looking for someone who can take on the following responsibilities:

  • You help students with their specific problems and questions relevant to Foundations.

  • You provide meaningful feedback and pointers to help other students push themselves further and learn on their own.

  • Whenever necessary, you help them debug specific problems so that students don’t get stuck for too long or waste time with the “wrong problems.”

  • You will provide help through office hours or on Slack.

That means we’re looking for you to bring the following skill sets:

  • You have the desire to help and support fellow students.

  • You have built full-stack web applications and have a solid understanding of both backend and front-end development and can guide fellow students through the process.

  • In order to be able to support students with their questions, you have a solid understanding of Python (including concepts like classes and object-oriented programming), HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • You can explain the basics of how the internet, clients, and servers work to your mother.

As a formal requirement to work in this role, we also need you to meet the following requirements:

  • Having a German bank account so we can pay you

  • The right to work and primary residence in Germany so that we are allowed to employ you

  • Enrollment at CODE (you will need to provide your Certificate of Enrollment before starting this position)

If, beyond this, you bring along any of the following, and it would really give our team an edge. Remember that none of these points are requirements, though:

  • You have passed the modules SE_19 and SE_01.

This role is suitable for an enthusiastic student with some experience. As such, we’re offering a salary of 15,00€ (gross) per hour, with a maximum of 34 hours per month. This role is available from February 2023 and ends with the hand-in deadline on April 30th, 2023.

Please provide the following with your application:

  • Your CV

  • A short cover letter explaining your fit to the role and motivation for applying

  • A link to code examples you worked on in the past, showing your skills relevant to this position
